Where to get White Wings La Paloma Tortilla Mix?

I have heard wonderful things about this flour tortilla mix from San Antonio, Texas, and I was wondering if it is possible to buy it in the Seattle area.

  1. There is a slim chance the folks at Mexi-Mart in South Park can help. I say slim because it doesn't really have gourmandish pretensions, but it does stock a bunch of gocery items not commonly encuntered in groceries West of the Cascades.
White Center/Burien/South Park - all good places to look, I imagine. You might also ask at the Mexican Grocery on Pike Place and the other oddball ethnic place at the other end (the delaurenti end) of Pike Place. This is the one who specializes in hot sauces.
    Good luck

    1. If it is a Texas brand, it may be hard to find around here. I suspect most of our Mexican items come by way of California distributors. The only flour tortilla mix that I've found was at Walmart; that could come from Texas.

The Walmart flour tortilla mix has a similar ingredients list, except that the partially hydrogenated oil is replace by palm oil. There still is some partially hydrogenated oil, but it is much further down the ingredients list. A more authentic Mexican choice would be lard, though the store bought version has some partially hydrogenated lard in it. It is possible, though, to make tortillas with liquid oil. Indian chappatis are often made without any added fat

          1. If you are looking for home made flour tortillas go to Su Casa Mexican Grill in Issaquah, Washington. They are the best!
