I'm taking a lady friend out for dinner this weekend and I'd like to
find a nice romantic spot. Something quiet, perhaps something with more simple, less adventurous cuisine, as I'm not quite sure of my date's taste just yet. Something a little on the quieter side. I'm familiar with the Sunnyside restaurants, but haven't ventured too much into Jackson Heights. Maybe Italian?

in woodside, i'd try sapori d'ischia on 37th ave in the 50s. import store by day, cozy italian dinner spot by night.
or donato's, a cute old style a la "lady and the tramp" italian place on 39th ave and 51st (i believe).

Uncle Peter's in Jackson Heights can be a nice romantic place. It has dim lighting and the service is quite good. The food is continental...I've only tried the Italian, and I enjoyed it. It can be a bit on the pricey side, but the atmosphere paired with good food makes it a worthwhile visit. It's on Northern Blvd., between 86th and 87th Streets? (I believe).

Sandrina - I tried Uncle Peter's based on your suggestion. My bf and I went their for Valentine's Day. The place is nice inside... couldn't imagine it from the outside though. Thanks for the great suggestion! Our steak and sea bass were both great.
