Opus-The Best TM Deal in LA
I can't believe our dinner experience tonight.
After having been to Hatfield's, Melisse, Providence, Spago, Sushi Gen, etc, in the last couple of weeks we were hoping to take a break, not so fast!
We were heading to Angelini but the Toyota Bentley "lexus" turned S.
I've been reading about Opus and the new chef which we know from OC's Aubergine and Meson G so we decided to give it a try?
OMG! Six courses 60- ,impossible!
Everything was amazing and the restaurant can use and deserves the support! Chef Joseph came out several times to explain the courses and WOW! Here goes:
a. Corn Poppers(meson g)
b. Sashimi of Yellowtail w/bacon, hojiso, shio konbu, hokki clam.
c. Tempura Softshell Crab w/chilled Crab and farm fresh tomato salad, corn pudding.
d. Engish Pea Soup with Pork Belly-ABALONE combo, meyer lemon sorbet.
e. Ajii(japanese mini Mackerel)w/grilled hearts of palms, gooseberry gastrique
f. Braised Short Rib w/ Crispy Sweetbread, cream of wheat, bearnaise.
g. Lemon Verbena Milkshake, tonburi, grapenuts
h. Simple Chocolate Cake, fig jam , long pepper ice cream.
THIS T MENU SHOULD BE 100- or more. It's a bargain for 60- and the portions are large. Everything was very good.

I went to Opus before the new chef and wasn't impressed with the food in relation to the price. But, your post sounds great and I'll have to give it a try again. Does Chef Joseph come out to explain the prix fixe menu to everyone who orders it? That's cool if he does.

re: daluji
I don't know if the Chef always comes out to talk about the Pre-fixe but he did last night.
There is no comparison to the old Opus Bar and Grill to the NEW Opus Restaurant, new owners and new chef since Aug. I'm already thinking about going again next week. This time the 9 course!
