Best place to buy gourmet picnic goods in sonoma county and romantic spot to enjoy them?
I was just driving through Sonoma on Friday and I stopped at Sonoma Market. I think it's on 5th, just a few blocks from the main square. I was VERY impressed with the deli there. They had some pre-made stuff that looked amazing (perfect for a picnic) but I had them make me a sandwich. It was one of the best I have ever had. They grilled roast beef and also grilled onions. They put cheddar on the beef until it melted then put it all on a great roll with mayo, mustard, pickels, tomatos, lettuce and avocado. It was so very good. Can't wait to go back.
I was just at the new Fig Pantry this weekend and they have very tempting picnic goodies, including gorgeous looking sandwiches, Fra mani sausages, cheeses, baked goods, etc. It's located just a mile or so from the plaza in Sonoma.
As for where to picnic, the main plaza is nice, but so are many wineries with picnic tables. I don't have a favorite one.
Fine LIving did a round up of spots though!
