PDX: Weekday Breakfast

Hi, my husband and I will be dropping off our daughter for her first day of preschool Thursday and I was hoping to go out to breakfast afterward, since the house will surely seem strangly quiet while she's gone. The preschool is in North Portland so rec's close by would be good, but anywhere on the eastside works. I know where to go for weekend brunch but it's been ages since I've been out to a weekday breakfast and i need help. Thanks!

I just recently discovered Helser's. Fabulous! It's on Alberta, around maybe 26th or so. Unusual menu...crowded for breakfast even in the middle of the week tho.

John Street Cafe in "downtown St John's" is pretty good, and does weekday breakfast. Here's the info:

I've never been there, but I hear that Beaterville Cafe, on N. Killingsworth near Denver, is a good breakfast spot.

Petite Provence is now open on Division at 47th. They have a very nice breakfast menu including omelettes, hash, french toast, etc. There is seating in one half and the other half is the bakery with an countless pastries, muffins, scones, etc that will tempt anyone. And the service is friendly and good.
