re: ceeceee
I agree that a Costco cake is the way to go. I recently had trouble ordering a cake for a baby shower, and had to ultimately go with a Costco cake upon a recommendation. It was very affordable, I believe $14 for a square cake enough for over 20 people. No hassle ordering and best of all, the guests polished it off, and these were adults! This is the perfect cake of kids. Most mommies I know say that Costco is the way to go. No fuss, easy pickup and good cake.

Thanks for your replies.
Mrs. Maxwell's is probably a bit far for me, but I'll keep it in mind.
I love La Marjolaine for its croissants & breakfast pastries, but I'm not crazy about its cake - French-style spongecake just doesn't make good kid fare. I guess what I meant with the word "yummy" is tasty by kid standards, i.e. a decent American style yellow or chocolate cake with good, real buttercream frosting or chocolate glaze and cute decorations.
Has anyone ever ordered Fresh Direct birthday cake or cupcakes?
Any feedback? -

La Marjolaine? 51st and Skillman.
As for yummy... I mean, isn't birthday cake all of similar yumminess? I don't expect too much from a birthday cake, but then I don't expect less than satisfactory. There's also Jay-Dee near Rego Park, which is quite good for this sort of thing.
