I am going to Gig Harbor this week and wanted to know if there are any recommended restaurants. Seafood would be great but am up for anything.

SFLisa, The Green Turtle for dinner. (You will need reservations.) The Tides Tavern is a Gig Harbor institution and offers typical pub-grub fare. Remarkably, even though the Gig Harbor area has grown a lot, there are very few Chowhound options in their neck of the woods worth recommending.

Agree that the Green Turtle is worth a visit. The Beach House in Purdy (quite near Gig Harbor) has a following. It's been a while since I've been there, so I can't verify their Chowhound status. Xingh's in Shelton is worth the drive if you have the time.

Thanks for the recs. We sat outside at the Green Turtle and had a wonderful meal with a wonderful view.

The son of the owners was our waiter - an extremely personable young man. We had sockeye salmon and halibut cheeks. Terrific.

Tides was great for a drink and lunch. Excellent halibt fish and chips - great vacation food.
