  1. I've been to Cafe Zelda once and had a very good experience. For an entree I had "chicken-fried lobster". That was surprisingly good, but the stand-out dish was an appetizer. It was a panko and sesame crusted tuna maki roll. Delectable.

White Horse Tavern is a bit more formal and much more old-fashioned. It takes a long time to eat there, but your patience will be rewarded. The staff is knowledgeable, attentive and personable. The food is tremendously good. My best meal in Newport was at the White Horse Tavern.

    1. Had a great meal at Cheeky Monkey this past fall, and heard all good things about Scales and Shells as well. Loved the waiter we had at Cheeky Monkey...very fun for the group I was with and handled all requests with aplomb.

      1. Rhumbline

        Restaurant Bouchard

        1. Good calls on both, Sean! I hadn't thought of those.

          1. Just spent my honeymoon in Newport and stayed at the Castle Hill Inn at one of their beach houses. The food was excellent. The five course dinner with wine pairings we had at the Inn was one of the best I have ever had. Their scallop salad, crab soup and yellowfin tuna dish were spectacular. The breakfast at the Inn is also nice.
