I went to school when Dano and his wife, Karen, owned Danos (now that location is known as Les Ducs, or was the last time I checked) on the Commons in Ithaca. It was known as the best restaurant in town by many of the foodies and the couple were wonderful. I can recall long talks with Karen about wine and just bend-over-backwards service and hospitality. Also, as I said, some of the best food in town; by the end of my stay, I was a regular and it was responsible for over half of my 'nice' dinners my last couple of semesters. I'm glad to hear they are doing well in their new restaurant...

Just got back...the Liptauer spread was great as was the Linzer Tort. The Spatzel was adequate but the pate left something to be desired. Overall, a cute place with lots of options. Oh....and the bread was AMAZING!

Thanks for this! We are heading out to Lodi in 2 weeks and I kinda decided Dano's would be a place to check out. It appears to have an interesting set-up and the food sounds really yummy!

Since we will be staying at a cabin, and kicking back for the weekened.....I gotta ask---is the dress code there relaxed? Jeans and Ts ok? Also, if anyone knows, if Suzanne's dress code less relaxed?

          TIA

Hi....Dano's dress code is very relaxed...everyone there was in casual summer wear...shorts...jeans...Nike's. You must try their Liptauer cheese spread....I had the weiner schnitzel...it was amazing...from meadow raised calves...also the Austrian white wine was perfect...and their Vegetarian special...Dano either grows most of the veggies himself or gets them from his neighbors farm....Bon Appetit...Miranda

If you are going on a weekend night you might want to make a reservation. We were in the area a few weeks ago and tried to go on a Saturday and they were booked. Luckily we stuck around on the Sunday for dinner before driving home because it was a truly excellent meal. By far the best place we ate while we were there.
