What is a "flame-proof" platter?

I have a recipe that calls for one of these (the dish is finished under the broiler). I have an "oven-proof" platter (safe up to 450 degrees). Will this work, or do I need something different?

  1. Broiler temperatures are well above 450. Personally, I wouldn't put anything under the broiler except uncoated metal.
