Don't know mimi's - however, Beaver on Queen West is great. Funky decor - homage to the beaver - and v good food...

I like Swan and Butler's Pantry (both are Queen, west of bathurst)...

One of the worst restaurant experiences in my longish life: The Beaver. Party of 3, noon on Sunday. 45 minutes later absoutely no food and when one of us went to inquire, order not even "in". e Grill cook told us he is "actually, a musician". Unforgiveable, unforgettable. Went to the Drake and had a fab fry up served in under 15 min. Quit your day job, Beavers.

i too have noticed that since the change in ownership wait time for food has increased. hopefully, the new stuff will get more efficient with experience. in my opinion, the food is still just as good as before, in fact the new owners wisely kept the old menu short of few changes (one of my favourites is gone sadly - the curry egg salad sandwich). was there for lunch twice this week, and both times the wait times was reasonable, even though friday was uncharacteristically busy.

Also Easy on Queen and Roncy, and Mitzi's/Mitzi's sister nearby on Saurauren (?sp). and Freshwood grill on Roncessvales are all safe bets, although some get busy around 11:30 or w/e's

Stewart's probably had his brekkie by now, but my absolute favourite Queen W breakfast is Vienna Home Bakery. Everything is made from scratch and so delicious. The Eggs Bombay is florentine with curry sauce, mmmmm and the spicy sausage patties studded with caraway seeds are an absolute must. The only problem is that it's a bit small in there, you can't really go with more than three people.

Mimi's is fantastic! I highly recommend it. My favourites are the Elvez omelet (omelet with applewood cheddar and chili) and the cheese blintzes.

However, always have a back up plan as only Mimi opens when she feels up to it.

I had the El Vez omelet; exactly what I was looking for.

We 5 are from the farthest reaches of the suburban drabness of Mississauga. In our neighbourhood, stepping out for something different means Harvey's rather than McDonald's !! My 3 young kids were amazed (and somewhat alarmed) by Mimi's (and everything else about Queen West) ... what a blast !

Give Mimi's a try; definitely different and worthy.
