How do you store summer squash?

Well, I'm turning my attention to storing summer squash in glass jars this week. However, I'm wondering how people usually keep summer squash.

My usual method was just to toss in the vegetable bin in the fridge ... no bags no containers ... just bare, naked, uncovered zukes. They last about a week that way ... some less, some SLIGHTLY longer. Is there a better way? I'll throw that method into my glass jar testing and see which is better.

I store them in plastic bags put into the veggie bin in the fridge. A week is a pretty good long time for goodness in summer squash.

Tender fruits (which summer squash are) tend to do best in high humidity, which is usually easier to maintain in a bag than in the open air.
