Flamingo Diner comments

You can't go wrong with the toast, and you know to avoid the lobster, but just how intricate should one get with the Flamingo? I'll talk about my experiences and maybe others can tell me some new picks that are safe, or better.

-Egg-related items. These are all good, but my favorite breakfast foods here are the sausage, and the Taylor ham/egg/cheese sandwich.

-Burgers. Serviceable but not the best. Fries are slightly better.

-Chicken. Fried chicken was nothing special but the Greek style chicken is excellent; I'm thinking this available only on Wednesdays.

-Sandwiches. Not all BLTs are equal; this one's very good. The tuna melt is decent.

-Soup. Yankee bean is outstanding (only Wednesdays, I think.) Clam chowder pops up sometimes and isn't bad. Chicken noodle is way too salty.

-Dessert. All I know is the rice pudding, which is worth checking out.

Downtown Jersey City on Montgomery St., close to Exchange Place PATH. For amusing ambience and not quite as efficient service, try it at 3AM on a weekend.
