Davy's Dogs in Mt. Arlington, NJ

Late last night I stopped for gas in Mt. Arlington, NJ, and noticed a rather fanciful-looking hot dog joint next door, called Davy's Dogs. It was past midnight, so they were closed, but I was intrigued. Anyone know anything about this place?

I've been there a few times. Nice little place. You can go to the little window outside to order your dogs, but I suggest going inside. The dogs are Sabrett with natural casing. You can get them boiled, deep fried, or grilled. If you don't specify, you'll get them boiled. Only thing I didn't like was the size. Tiny 12 to a lb dogs. Good variety of toppings if that's what you like. Worth stopping in if you're in the area.

Head to Hot Dog Johnny's instead in Butzville, NJ (yes Butzville) on Rt 46.

I stumbled upon Dave's last St. Patricks day. The place is quaint and the green saurkraut was festive. The hot dog was just o.k.

In my opinion, Hot Dog Johnny's is highly overrated. Very bland dog. And this opinion was shared by other members of the Munchmobile's S.W.A.T. Dog Team when we went there earlier this summer. If you live in the area, Toby's Cup or Charlies Pool Room are better choices.

I agree the dogs at HDJ's aren't anything special. It is a nice outdoor place to stretch your legs if you're motorcycling (or driving) around the area though...
