I've only been to that El Torito once since I live in L.A. but my brother lives in San Leandro, but the best bet at any El Torito is probably some fajitas - the simplest item. We have an El Torito close to us in Sherman Oaks and we used to go there occasionally for Cadillac Margaritas and steak fajitas, but it went really far downhill from its previous mediocrity, so we don't go anymore but it still gets big crowds, ugh. My recollection of the San Leandro branch at the time (probably about 4-5 years ago, my niece was still in a high chair and she's 6 now) was that it was a lot worse than our local El Torito. Good luck.

Yeah, I haven't been to El Torito in years, but I liked that dressing, which has pipian (pumpkin seeds).

I've always enjoyed the "regional specialities" at El Torito. Whatever they are featuring is usually good. A while back they had a delicious soup/stew with fresh vegetables as one of the specials. Anyway, it changes about 4-6 times a year I think.

I haven't been to an actual El Torito, but I've been to their southwestern iteration, the "El Torito Grill." They don't have much that's good, but their salad with pepitas is very nice. It has a Cesar style dressing and the pepitas add some zip.
Have lots of their chips with the smoked salsa and tortillas. If you're still hungry, their tortilla soup is quite good.

If you're still hungry after that, go get an ice cream cone :-)
