San Jose Mercury News - Aug. 30 food column

PolarBear Aug 30, 2006 10:47 PM

Couldn't believe my eyes reading this, even more so couldn't believe the reporter thinking he's uncovered a real find! Well I guess imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And it's been around since..... March 2005, wow.

Yelp is like a cross between my space and chowhound, I guess. People set up personal profiles and write about places they frequent. It's not a food site exclusively and is pretty helpful for finding all sorts of businesses. I found my hairdresser and my tailor by looking at people's recomendations on Yelp. I think it was hatched in SF (didn't read your attached article thoroughly) and their links often come up in a google serach when looking for places in the city. I've personally never posted there but I do search on it from time to time.
