Grandpa's 90th birthday dinner in Md.

My husband and I would like to take my grandfather to a special birthday dinner - price no object. He lives in Rockville but we could drive into NW D.C. or Bethesda, too. We need a place that is quiet enough for conversation, open Mondays and takes reservations. Grandpa will most likely order the simplest fish or meat dish on the menu. We're adventurous eaters but for once, it's not about me. He likes Mykonos but that's sort of the go-to place, so I'd like to go someplace different. Suggestions?

What about Sorrento in Bethesda? I've been there with several older relatives, and it's worked very well--it's quiet, the food is good, and the staff is friendly. They're also helpful is there are ingredients someone can't eat etc.

What about La Ferme in Chevy Chase? I haven't been in years, but was always perfect for occasions like this.
