The Grill on the Alley in Beverly Hills

I am going for dinner. What's your favorite dish? I always get a steak and it's great, but I'm afraid I'm in a culinary rut. And yes, I know it's expensive. I'm not paying.

  1. Haven't been to the Grill on the Alley in a long time, but was at the Grill at the Hollywood/Highland location last week. The menu at the H/H location is slightly different, they don't have the section with the Joe's Special. I had the softshell crab and the manhattan clam chowder (wasn't that hungry). the crab was fried in too much butter for my taste, and the tomato base for the chowder was dull. My bf had the chicken marsala, the chicken was very dry. The food was a big dud.
um, you might want to stick with the steak.

    1. Going there tonight--will report back but not sure if you saw this:

        1. The Grill is better than the other restaurants in the chain. The quality of food, as well as the atmosphere. Even if it's the same dish, I've found it's better at The Grill. I remember liking their chicken dishes, and the seafood. My husband usually gets the pasta with pesto and likes it quite a bit. I didn't care for the Cobb Salad, too shredded for my taste. They make a good cocktail. It's also good for star sightings if you're into that.

          1. I had the chicken pot pie and it was (and I never thought I'd utter these words about chicken pot pie) to die for! It's plate sized, huge chunks of chicken in a creamy sauce but the crust is flaky and perfectly golden brown. Yum. My daughter enjoyed her chicken piccata. My dining companions had steak/eggs (OK) and liver/bacon and onions which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had a taste of the bread pudding and it was also very good--moist. I'm told the rice pudding was good (but he'd had better). Enjoyed the atmosphere which was not too loud. Also, one of the waiters saw me enjoying a taste of another's creamed spinach and he immediately brought me a small side of it which was very nice and much appreciated. Nice touch. Will definitely go back!
