Tuesday night deals around town - cozy required - picky companion
Going to dinner with someone who's easily annoyed. Looking for something nice, warm, and cozy for a casual dinner. A good deal would be nice too. I'm thinking something like the bar at Chez Henri. I worry Chez Henri will be a bit busy around 8:30 p.m. when I can get there so I need some alternatives. I'm in search of a dark comfy spot to settle in with some wine and comfort snacks. Carmen comes to mind but parking could be a real bummer yes, in this lousy weather I'll end up driving). Then I think Cuchi Cuchi but that doesn't feel right. River Gods could work but the music could be a problem depenind on the DJ. Any other dark and cozy suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The Independent would work (www.indo.com) dark/Sox game casual bar on one side, slicker upscale on the other side

Love the Gods but get there after 6 and it's packed on most night plus it's tight to move around. And yeah, at 8:30 the DJ will be in full effect.
I think Silvertone is kind of dark and cozy and should have settled down some by then on a Tuesday. But it sounds like you're thinking mostly Cambridge.

How about the Enormous Room? Definitely dark & cozy - not sure of music.
How about the Rendezvous?
West Side Lounge is dark and cozy too.
Thirsty Scholar has a dark, pubby vibe and is large enough to hang in a corner, esp. on a Tuesday.

re: Bob Dobalina
I would avoid the Thirsty Scholar if you are looking for quality in the food. The standard, "throw it in the fryer" apps are okay, but the rest of the menu, in my experience is sub-par. Pair that with the indifferent (at best) service and I avoid this place. Especially if you are with someone who gets easily annoyed. This makes me sad b/c it had the potential to be a great neighborhood joint.
