Where you can you get cheap but very delicious, high-quality food in Rhode Island?

In Providence, I know there's:

The Chez Pascal hot dog cart
Cuban Revolution
Taqueria Pacifico

I'm looking for other Providence suggestions as well as other cities and towns.

Thanks!

Providence Monthly (Aug) had an in-depth article on ethnic eateries of the west end.

Not THAT cheap but still fits the category I think.....Nick's on Broadway. You can certainly eat well for $10 - I'd say it's probably among the best $10 you could spend on food in the city.

I'm also a big fan of the tamales at Mexico on Atwells.

In North Smithfield on the Woonsocket line...Beef Barn. Known for their roast beef but I like the cheeseburgers & fries.

Mike's Kitchen at the VFW Hall in Cranston. For around $10 you get authentic Italian-American food that rivals any high end Italian restaurant in Providence.

Does anyone remember when there was a restaurant actually called Cheap Eats in Middletown? Stuff like a full Thanksgiving dinner for $5 (early 1990s). I was a regular in my 20s....fill up there to have more $$ to buy mudslides in Newport.

I live in Bristol, and I am not a big fan, personally. I am kind of particular about what I like to order when I go out, and my friends and I all agree that the red sauce at Tweets leaves something to be desired. I do recommend taking a look at some other places in Bristol, though. Roberto's on Hope Street is pretty good. I also suggest Leo's Ristorante.

Chilango's really is exceptional. Highly recommended. There are a lot of other good little taquerias, but they're probably the best and most thorough, plus they have pambazos, which nobody else have and they're awesome.

Pho Paradise on Broad St has great Pho, haven't managed to try anything else yet.

I'm also slowly becoming aware of a number of restaurants that serve Laotian or Thai/Laotian border food, some of which is VERY interesting and exciting. The only one I've tried was on Smith St, on a lark, and don't remember its name but I had the laab and it was crazy--full of some mysterious herb. If anyone knows of any Laotian places that really stand out, please let me know--I'm very new to the cuisine.

No, but I certainly will give Pho Paradise a try. There was a place next to Shaw's on the Cranston/Providence border that was somehow affiliated with HON's, but it really was not as good. I think it’s now called “Golden Nime Chow.” Sort of the same situation as the Aspara on Hope St. vs the original (better of the two) on Public St.

If you get back to Chilango's, ask to try a shot their house tequila. The owner’s father makes this commercially in Mexico and they import it exclusively to the US. Not high end, but very smooth . . .

Try the Red Fez (49 Peck St., Providence) too -- while some of their entrees get a little pricey, you can get delicious, filling stuff for under $10. Try their house hummus, it comes with warm grilled flatbread. Their soups are good and cheap too.

Champlin's on Point Judith - wonderful seafood. I try to get there at least once a year. It's certainly not a white tablecloth kind of place, you wait in line to order at a counter and take your food to one of the picnic tables (inside or outside, on their deck), but it's great fun. The seafood is excellent, I've never had a bad meal there. I recommend going slightly off-season, when the weather is still warm enough to eat out on the deck but most of the vacationers have gone home. Fun to watch the boats come in and out while you eat.
