Looking for papanasi

Miss Needle Aug 28, 2006 11:28 PM

Does anybody know where's a good place to have papanasi, the heavenly Romanian fried dough served with sour cream and preserves? I used to go to Cornel's (sp?) in Sunnyside on Skillman Ave. I believe they are closed now. Anywhere in Queens or Manhattan will be fine, but I feel that I will have better luck in Queens.

Cornel sold the Skillman location but it's been still a romanian restaurant called Romanian Garden. As far as I know, they have the best papanasi.
The new Cornel's restaurant is Harmony II and it's on 39th St (or Pl? sorry, not sure) and Greenpoint.
Not sure about Acasa, but they might make them too.
