Where to find gaufrettes(fan wafer) cookies in bay area?

stella12 Aug 28, 2006 09:46 PM

I am looking to puchase gaufrettes or fan wafer cookies. They usually come with gelato. They are a wafer cookie that is the shape of a fan and has a waffle pattern on one side. I have located two places that used to carry them, but they can no longer get them. I asked the gelato place and they said they get limited quantites also. If anyone has seen these around to purchase, please let me know. Thanks~

You can purchase these online from the Oblaten company. They have several different flavors and come in white tins with gold writing.

Trader Joes had something similar recently. I would also look at Cost Plus World Market, they often have that kind of random specialty item.

Can't hurt to call Sur la Table or try Farmer Joe's on Fruitvale. Happy hunting!!

          Williams-Sonoma still carries them.

Williams Sonoma carries a French brand - I don't recall the name. They are sold in a nice blue tin and should be on display with all the other foodstuff. You'll probably spend $20 on them though. Otherwise, check Mitchell's in SF since they carry cookies too.
