I thought of another place. There is a local pizza chain called Johnny's Pizza. We love it. The best thing to get is a thincrust pepperoni party pizza with cheese sauce on the side. It is really good.
However, let me just say I have always wondered if I would love it as much if I didn't grow up eating it. I mean I can make better pizza at home, but I still crave Johnny's often.
Canards in West Monroe is the best fine dining restaurant. www.canardsonline.com
It has a great chef. I have never had one less than stellar thing there. They have a really great house bread as well, and the very best sweet tea.
Rays PeGes is a hole in the wall place with the very best poboys. It has been around forever and the owner is there every day.
My favorite barbecue for around here (We are not talking Lockhart, Texas quality) is BBQ West. It is a local 3 store chain. I was friends with the owners daughter in school. Great guy. It is sauced, but delicious. They serve with a wonderful sourdough bread.
I will refresh my memory and give you more info. I was born and raised in West Monroe, so perhaps I can help. We are certainly not known for our good food. However, WMLA is the chain restaurant capital of LA. People are actually proud of that here.
A couple of things to try:
http://www.gabbeauxs.com/ (never been there- just ran across the site)
It's a chain, but is good "regional" food http://www.copelandsofneworleans.com/
There's a place called Cormier's that has boiled crawfish in-season and another place called Cypress Inn that has local type foods.
I can't especially recommend any BBQ in that area.
