Kosher Restaurant Database

jeterfan Aug 28, 2006 04:39 PM

While googling for a kosher restaurant, I found a kosher restaurant database that allows you to insert a type of cuisine (from a pulldown menu) and locate Kosher restaurants in the US, Israel, and Europe that serve that cuisine. Here is the link: http://www.jewishcelebrations.com/res...

Looks good but seems out of date - I know some of the restaurants in skokie are closed - my favorite is Shamash - http://www.shamash.org/kosher/ - it fairly comprehensive and is being kept up to date - I never travel with out checking it out -

Jewish Celebrations and Shamash are both very outdated. Since restuarants - especially kosher ones - open and close very frequently, it's difficult to maintain a reliable database.

That has been an issue in the past with Shamash but they are doing a better job of updates on closings and openings - usually the databse is refreshed at least weekly - like many sites relying on input from users is to update the data so the site can update the data - my own expereinces the site is usually updated within a week after my posting -
