Restaurants near RDU
I have some friends coming in to the airport on Friday, but they one is coming in at 7pm and another at 11pm, so I'd like to find a good place with any type of food where we could eat well and kill time until the later flight without having to drive too far away from the Raleigh-Durham airport. Less expensive is always better, thanks for your suggestions.
I'd say for better than average Italian, a good choice would be Babymoon Cafe, which is just a mile and a half from the airport off of Airport Blvd.
Really excellent, inexpensive pho at 9n9 on Miami Blvd, which is 2 exits down from the airport on 40.
You've got to stand in line and order from the counter at Neomonde, but it's pretty freaking good middle eastern food. Take Airport Rd away from RDU past 40 and until it dead ends at 55 (may be 54?). Turn left and go about 1/2 mile. It's in a shopping center on your right.
You've got Hooters & the Texas Roadhouse right down the road. Okay, just kidding, but in all honesty, I wouldn't recommend Babymoon either, as much as I've wanted to like it. I've been there maybe 5 times, and never been too happy. There are about 500 things on the menu though, so maybe there's a gem buried within. They also have booze, and a nice patio. Oh, they're not exactly inexpensive either.
Carmen's is pricey, especially for the quality. Skip it.
Not sure if Neomonde would be open during your hours, but they do have a website, so check it out before going.
I'm with HSH on 9N9, and if you're willing to make that very easy drive, I'd also highly recommend Tower India, for some of the best South Indian food in the Triangle (next to Udipi).
