whats the earliest time for dim sum in sgv and where to go?
A family member with a birthday [that would be ME!!!] was thinking to go with family & friends for dim sum on said birthday. Small complication: the youngest pup has a dance class that starts at 11:30. She will basically need to be at the northwest part of the 405/10 interchange by 11:30am.
Can we do dim sum? When they say dim sum is best early, do they mean before 10 am?
And where can we go? We were thinking of Sam Woos [del mar and valley] because of convenient parking but should we try someplace else?
Oh yes, this will be on a Saturday morning [but NOT tomorrow].
thank you kindly......................
To my knowledge, Sam Woo does not do dim sum. I don't know where you're starting from but, assuming you're not in SGV, I would suggest you get to Ocean Seafood in Chinatown at 10:00 a.m. sharp.
You'd be able to enjoy all the dim sum you could possibly eat for almost an hour and still have plenty of time to get to your destination.
re: Professor Salt
Sam Woo on the fourth floor of Focus Plaza at Del Mar and Valley does do dim sum -- Bob, you're probably thinking of the barbecue shops that are sprinkled through out the SGV, which don't do dim sum.
Don't know what time they open. I've eaten at 10 AM at Sam Woo and NBC and while they're open before that (I think), they don't have the variety of food that they do at 11 AM.
10 a.m. seems to be the ticket at most places I've gone to in the San Gabriel Valley. They all seem to close about 2:30p, and reopen at 5p for dinner.
