I wanted to share my experience with the pick your farms in the Hudson Valley region. In less than 1.5 from NYC, there are many great farms in Orange County and Dutchess. I have been to several farms and one specific one several times since July. The best one I have been to was Weed Orchards which has a variety of vegetables/fruits which is hard for many farmers.

The peaches, squash, eggplant, cucumbers, peppers and nectarines have been unbelievable and very inexpensive that now I make this trip every two weeks which has replaced my supermarket visits for veggies and fruits.

Apple seasons starts just after Labor Day......

Check out Weed Orchards:

Or just go to Pick your own and select a region:

Great website, thanks for sharing. Late summer-early fall is absolutely one of my favorite times of year, specifically for fruit/veggie picking.

Last weekend we took friends and family to Barton Orchards in Fishkill and picked wonderful nectarines, enormous zucchinis, and some yummy early macintosh. They also had fun stuff for the kids. We went through a corn maze and next month, they offer pony rides.

I will certainly check out Weed Orchards in the next couple of weeks.

Greig Farm
www/greigfarm.com
Every year as long as I can remember, we would spend a weekend in Rhinebeck and spend a few hours at Greigs Farm before driving back to NYC. Baked goods, berries, pumpkins , apples and produce, honey and apple cider donuts..( those donuts never made it to the car!)
And the kids got a kick out of the cows looking over the fence next door..
Once you have been , you can fill out a form and they send newsletters that are nice .
