Plough and Stars Cubano (again)

Friendly reminder about this place for lunch -- I went in today for a pre-vacation celebratory lunch and ordered the excellent cubano.

They don't press the cubano, it's more like fixins between two thick slices of toasted bread, but the roast pork, the ham, gruyere and cornichons are really great for $8.

Also perused the lunch specials menu and they have some lovely choices at the moment, including scallops wrapped in bacon (my neighbor at the bar enjoyed these) and smoked salmon salad. Everything on the lunch menu is under $12 and most come with their good/great fries. (Some days those fries are the bomb, other days they're just good.)

Friendly place, nice vibe, always about half full for lunch. Highly recommend.

  1. I had brunch there a while back and really enjoyed it, although if memory serves correctly, there weren't a lot of veg options (not that I am one) and there was a lot of pork on the mneu. But everything was good, and it is a great local place - you're right- friendly, nice vibe, etc.

      Yes. The menu tends toward the pork-heavy. That's why I like it. One brunch item is pork hash with poached eggs and hollandaise. Ooooof!

      If you eat fish, there are several options on the lunch menu. Strictly veg might be harder, but my neighbor at the bar today asked to substitute a side of veg with his scallops/bacon and the kitchen whipped up a succotash-style side that the guy raved about. For brunch, if you consider a bloody mary a vegetable, you're all set.
