Galileo

This might have already been mentioned, but I just returned from Galileo for bar lunch (excellent Rabbit Milanese), and was informed that they will closing next week for "renovations". It will take a year, and will relocate to Crystal City. The bartender said they were told they would be returning to 21st street. I am skeptical, due to earlier rumors of insolvency, but at least there is a glimmer of hope.

In Todd Kliman's Washingtonian chat this week, he laid down all sorts of hints about a Washington chef with several restaurants/spaces - and he was clearly talking about Jose Andres.....and that one of his Crystal City places might move into town, into Andale's space in Penn Quarter. Anybody heard anything else credible on this?

Oyamel is moving into that space from what i heard and Roberto Donna is opening a place in Oyamel's lot.

we asked Chef Donna about this during a recent class. He said they've got a long term lease for the space on 21st Street. Much of the office building will be updated too, and this will be the first major kitchen overhaul for Galileo since they've been open.
The dining room will be a bit different too, with more space for Osteria del Galileo.

He seemed very excited about the wood burning oven he's going to have in Crystal City.
