Great Places to Eat in Portsmouth

I'm coming through Portsmouth for a couple of days and I'm hoping to find a new great place to eat. I love Sakura.

Are there any places worth eating at? And, esp. Vietnamese?

Thanks!

    No Vietnamese in town.

I actually prefer Sake on Congress Street to Sakura for sushi.

There's a surprisingly good Indian place next to the parking garage on Hanover Street called Shalimar.

I'm continuously underwhelmed with the local Thai and Chinese places.

Portsmouth ain't eggsactly a center for good Asian food.

If you are wiling to cross the Porsmouth Bridge into Kittery try Anneke Jans. Very nice upscale but casual. Excellent food and drink, nice service. A little noisey but a fun place.

pesce blue is superb for mediterranean. very handsome room as well as outdoor tables. beautiful presentation and flavors and execution.

lindbergh's crossing is delicious though richer food ; old tavern like atmosphere.

don't forget to drive out around newcastle- so lovely- and visit nearby
Newburyport- beautiful historic town on the river w/ lovely river boardwalk(Glenn's Galley is very good there).

also enter portsmouth into the search box and you'll get lots more.

ate at Lindburgs Crossing last night. It was excellent food, excellent drinks, and excellent service. Very small, but worth it.
