IPA tasting

Partipated in a tasting of American IPAs. Here are the ales tasted in the order of preference with some notes:

Stoudt’s Double IPA Bottle conditioned 10% abv
(Deep golden color very fragrant w/ a distinct hop aroma.)

Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA Avery Brewing Boulder, CO
Bottled in June 2006 Batch 4 9.9% (22oz)
(Dark amber hues with intense hops and distinct malt.)

Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA 9.0% abv
(A big citrus nose with a malt backbone combined with intense hops. Golden color.)

Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA 6.0% abv
(Favored by several. Foral, citrusy nose. Beautiful color. Great food beer. Balanced, easy to drink. Everything you would want in an IPA without going overboard.)

Acme IPA North Coast Brewing Co. 6.5 %abv
(Very hoppy nose. Somewhat dry, and very drinkable. Lighter in color. Also favored by several. This would be a good everyday IPA.)

Red Hook IPA 6.5% abv
(Dry finish. Nicely bitter. Hops not as intense as most of the others. Still not bad.)

    1. I should have mentioned they were served with Jamaican style food. Jerked chicken, jerked pork, jerked shrimp. Chicken curry and shrimp curry. A nice match.
