los angeles source for bento box sets

i'm looking to give a bento box set as a gift. i was thinking that mitsuwa marketplace might carry them, but i'm not sure. any other ideas in the south bay?

moderators: forgive me if this should be in "not about food," i just wasn't sure where this would belong.

  1. marukai should have them as well.

    1. They have beautiful sets all over chinatown.

      1. Mitsuwa on Western does have them. I bought one there a few months ago.

        1. this isn't really food but next door to the mitsuwa market at Alameda and 3rd is Utsuwa-no yakata. they have bento boxes and all kinds of porcelain and earthenware and lacquerware for the home.
Also, check out a discount store on the ground floor inside the mall. they may have a very nice bento set.

I don't know if Ryomundo in gardena carries them - if they do, they will be beautifully hand-lacquered and quite expensive.

Ryomundo sounds really interesting. Do you have an address or rough location? (not getting anything in Google)

              RYUMONDO CO., LTD. (310)
              660-6999 1610 W. Redondo Beach Blvd. Ste. 12B, Gardena, CA 90247
they may have moved to cerritos. call the number should be the same - if you read japanese

How much does a bento usually cost? (Not lacquered, please.)

            3. Shaab in Old Town Pasadena has beautiful and delicious bento boxes that you can get to go - but you do have to return the boxes since they come in the laquered wooden boxes.
