    I went to a nice apple orchard a few years back in King City but can't recall its whereabouts. I tried to look online and found these web sites:

    http://www.bitslounge.com/a02_event/2004/1020_appl.html
    (It's in Japanese but there is English on the left side with contact information for some GTA orchards

    )

    I guess this means summer really is coming to an end :(

        Is Milton considered GTA? I think it's getting there.
        Chudleigh's is an option, on hwy 25, north of Milton. Great place for kids, I have memories of jumping out of a hay loft and playing with tons of animals. However, they have commercialized in the last few years, and now charge admission (although I think you get some or all back depending on the amount of apples you buy) and I'm pretty sure they charge for parking too.

        With the admission comes tons of fun for the kids though, mazes and pumpkins and hay and animals. And they serve slices of their pies, candy apples, coffee etc.

          It's true, Chudleigh's has gotten very commercialized but I agree, it's a good place to visit. Great fun for kids, great pumpkin patch and great place to pick up some fresh off the trees apples! Try the Matsu or Honeycrisp if you haven't tried them before.

            There are lots of orchards out in Durham. There is a good one called Whitamore's in north Whitby. They have a good variety of apples and will even give you a tour of their facilities (surprising is very interesting). You can pick your own apples and they also have a very nice baked goods section in the store.

                Try Algoma. It is in WHitby as well and they definately let you pick your own. Go early as it is very busy on the weekends.

          I use to go to a small (but great place) in Milton. I would drive pass Chudleigh's on my way there. Sorry, can't remember the name, but I found it listed on a site that listed oarchards in Ont.

          I don't have kids, so the idea of going to Chudleigh's makes me shiver.

            Orchlaw Farms, off of Hwy 7 (on the south side), west of Mississauga Road, has a great orchard, a play area for kids, wagon rides to get to other parts of the orchard, and a few varieties of apples that are unfamiliar to supermarket shoppers. Ask for some advice on sweeter apples, and don't let the Macoun apples pass you by. It's still to early to go; wait until mid-Septmeber for the best flavour. On weekends there is a minimum, but last year there was no minimum on weekdays.
