New Korean Handmade-Noodle Place on Northern Blvd.

Yesterday during one of my walks to Han ah Reum with the ChowPup, I noticed a new Korean place that had sprung up a few doors down from my beloved Tong Tong Kimbap Inc (whose name has actually changed...)It's called "Myung _____" I forgot the last part and it's written in Chinese characters on the menu so my newest Seoul arrivals couldn't translate. It is at 158-03 Northern Blvd. 718-463-2927
The owners did not speak a word of English and the menu is entirely in Korean, but my kids were able to translate most of it for me. It is entirely noodle-based and the menu says they are all handmade. There is "nyang cong guk su" a bean based soup with noodles, a shark fin soup, a grilled duck dish that the kids were particularly excited about and a bunch of seafood and chicken noodle soups. For vegetarians there was a seasonal vegetable soup with handmade noodles. The dish that seemed most interesting is a mixed seafood soup with "soo jae bi" or "ripped noodles" As described by one of my students, "chunks of dough thrown into the hot soup and cooked with the seafood." Sounds very peasanty and good....Maybe a version of Korean chicken with dumplings, just with seafood....
Anyway the place is a 34 year old Seoul-based establishment that the Koreans around here are excited about, so we will definitley check it out in a few weeks when the kinks are hopefully ironed out.
****By the way, I'm sorry to note that the Han ah Reum in the shopping center no longer sells my son's favorite "poon a pang" or sweet red-bean stuffed fish-shaped "pastries", for lack of a better word. Bummer. Does anyone know what happened to the lovely lady who made them fresh to order? We adored her.****
Are you talking about the fish bread man (every time I've gone its been a man) in the HAR parking lot? Oh nooooo!
I think you are thinking of Han Yang market....on the other side of Northern. I'm talking about Han ah Reum in the Duane Reade, MacDonald's, Library, Mekong, etc shopping center :) The guy in the Han Yang parking lot is still there.... It's just further down for me to walk with my Little Guy.....
