Need Balto area recs for a 30th birthday party, moderate, about 50 people

Christina D Aug 23, 2006 08:05 PM

I'm looking for a place that is moderately priced, located anywhere along the I-83 corridor (PA line to Baltimore city). This is a 30th birthday party for a friend. We'd like a separate room, if possible, that can serve heavy appetizers, maybe even a buffet or stations.

Any recs?

that's kind of a tough one. I'd almost opt for something really casual like Mick O'Shea's, or see if Metropolitan Wine Bar would rent the upper level.

make the trek to RT's in Alexandria VA - they have private room they can close off completely

i know the website photo suggests more casual but it's incredible... really top knotch food - best crawfish etoufee north of n'arleans - super dark roux.

Thanks, but Alexandria is well over an hour from us. I can't ask 50 guests to go that far.

Thanks for the rec, though. We'll definitely keep it in mind when we're in the area.

Bluestone in Timonium might be able to accomodate that. I don't think they have a separate room, but there is an area to the left of the bar area that they use for larger parties.

One nice thing is that they do great appetizers, much better than their entrees.

Thanks. Bluestone was the first place I called, but they can't accomodate that many people on a weekend.

Also, if budget is an issue, you might do what people in my workplace do all the time and hold it on the second floor of The Treehouse, on York Road just south of Church Lane.

The food, however, is not particularly good, although it's not offensively bad. They handle those kinds of events all the time though.

            Brasserie Tatin

and on the opposite end of the spectrum

or if you could find a hall to have it n, I highly recommend Andy Nelson's BBQ catering!

if you want low key and fun, andy nelsons has a barn next to it called the pigskin palace with picnic tables and sports memorabilia...it isn't fancy, but cute and kitschy. we are having our rehearsal dinner there....

You may want to contact Greystone Grill located in The Hunt Valley Center(just off I-83) not sure is this is the type of venue you are looking for.. Also is Friendly Farms still open ? They were located in Upperco not far from I-83.

I took my husband and ten friends to Fleming's for his 40th...they have 2 private rooms you can reserve. They are able to do heavy appetizers, etc, but the minimum was $1,200. It was a great time....good luck

Have you thought about Ryan's Daughter? Just off Northern Parkway. I organized an event there and there was plenty of room. Good for families and average pricing. Nice selection of beer and food.

Joey Chiu's Greenspring Inn. Good Chinese, they'll do a luncheon family-style for a large party for around $20 a head including tax & tip.
