Some time back in May, I posted the question as to the status of Innocenti, as I had seen the place boarded up, and found that it was to be closed for 6-8 weeks for renos/revamping
Recently, I saw a rerun of the Restaurant Makeover for Innocenti, which reminded me that I had placed the posting. But when I went to their website ( www.innocenti.ca ) it still says that it is closed for 6-8 weeks.
According to my calculations, from the time that I saw the sign in May to the time that I saw the rerun this past week, that would make it a total of 12-16 weeks that they have been closed.
Keep in mind, I have not been by that part of King street for a while, and maybe their website is out of date.
Anyway, if anybody has any news as to what is happening with the place, I am curious to know.
They are still working on it.. Major reconstruction. They ripped the inside tottally out and have also ripped all of the siding off. Just last week the finished the exterior "Stucko" and installing new windows so the place was covered by scaffolding and tarps so I can not say how much is left to do on the inside... but I would guess nothing for at least another month...
Apparently, Tony the owner of Innocenti is no longer running the place and the owners of Blowfish have taken over. Word is they want to be open for TIFF.
My word on the street is that it is the people from Century Room putting the money and effort in the renos... and Tony WILL be involved as long as he wants to be.
Do you know if it will still remain just a restaurant? The SO thinks they are trying to real in the party crowd (a hunch from her which I do not agree with).
Since Blowfish and Century Room have overlapping ownerships perhaps both OnDaGo and cream are correct - now we just need to clear up Tony's situation.
