Don Pepe's, Fresno--A Delicious Stop

Just a quick note to say that hubby and I dropped by Don Pepe's the other day. We were both hungry and craving a burrito. I have to say that the super burrito really delivers!! First of all, the super burrito is huge and stuffed to the gills with all kinds of goodness. I ordered the chicken, which I found to be moist and flavorful. I think it is cooked in some sort of tomato-y sauce, which I found to be delicious. The super burrito comes with rice, beans, your choice of meat, and guacamole. The tortilla is grilled nicely before being stuffed and rushed to your table.

Hubby had the chili verde super burrito and thought it very delicious. The chili verde has a great tang to it and a lot of pork. Hubby managed to eat the whole thing, but I had to throw in the towel before I reached the end of the burrito.

We both liked the red salsa best, it seemed to have the best balance of flavors. The green salsa seemed way too vinegar-y as did the orangish cooked salsa.

Next time I want to try the amazing shrimp dishes others talk about here. I saw some amazing shrimp cocktails at some other tables and a lot of interesting shrimp dishes on the menu. Has anyone tried the shrimp diabla?

  1. Was just there today for my al pastor and lengua taco fix. Caught a glance of them making some tortas that looked really good. I've had the Shrimp Botana, kind of a spicy salad thing that had excellent flavor. Diabla is next on my list.

    Cheers,
