New York foodie coming to SF and Napa/Sonoma in October...
Does anyone have any suggestions for restaurants that I haven't already read reviews about or looked up in Zagat? A hot young chef? A "not-so-well-know" gem?
Which of the "top" restaurants are worth the trip? Which ones have lost a key chef or are overated?
gregoryclaude, I am a big fan of Bouchon in Yountville. They recently had a change in Chef de Cuisine--the new CdC came out from Per Se in NYC, and has also previously worked at The French Laundry. While the standard menu has not changed, the daily specials are tremendous. There is a new sous chef who came out from Per Se, too. Service the past few times has been a little slow, but as I was not in a rush I didn't mind. I like the atmosphere there. Much different from the Bouchon in the Time Warner Center in NYC.
