Great kosher in Springfield, N.J.

I have now been to The Avenue Deli & Grill on Morris Avenue, in downtown Springfield, N.J. about 10 times. I believe his felafel to be the best in NJ (a nice little condiments bar sits across from the counter), his shwarama is excellent, and his Moroccan salads are fantastic.

Yuda, the owner, runs a glatt kosher operation with a nice take-out menu. There is a small space to eat in, along a narrow counter, on stools. There are sandwiches, prepared dinners, and a large variety of Israeli foods.

Just last week in the jewish press, there was an add for this restaraunt. Today I tried to fax them. The fax # was disconnected, so I attempted to call on the regular phone, also disconnected. Are they out of business already?

Unfortunately, Yudah did not get the kind of support he had hoped for, from his community, or the surrounding ones. He made GREAT felafel, shawarma, and salads. I'll miss him---he was a truly nice man and a good cook.

Agreed--falafel was great, and so convenient. Such a shame!

Felafel was amazing. Does anyone know when exactly they closed or how to reach the owner?

He goes to Congregation Israel in Springfield--if you show up on a Shabbat, he'll likely be there--if not, someone who knows him will.
Closed because the community didn't patronize enough

This place sounds really great. It is on my list now. You might also want to try the Shushan Grill which opened in Highland Park which has a similar format.
