Bialetti Espresso Maker in Oakland?

AustrianNadja Aug 22, 2006 04:33 AM

Hi all,

Can any Oaklanders suggest a place where I can buy the classic Bialetti 3 Cup Aluminum Stovetop Espresso Maker in town? I had before moving here, and I haven't found it here yet. Thanks.

Sur La Table has it. There is one in Santana Row in San Jose. There is also one in Walnut Creek

Also, Sur La Table at 4th St. in Berkeley.

All the Peet's carry them. I would call the one that is convenient for you and make sure they have the size you're looking for.

Strictly speaking that's a moka pot.

Sweet Maria's at 1115 21st Street in Oakland stocks them, as well as replacement gaskets.

How about that restaurant supply place on 4th Street down near the Oakland produce market?

Can't remember the name, but they seem to have every gadget and item ever made.

Not a big selection of coffemakers. I'm not sure they have any mokas.

Thank you for the suggestions. I should have clarified, however, that I am looking for a simple 3-cup like this one:

These are sold all over New York for about 15 dollars, but seem much harder to find in the Bay Area.

Bialetti moka pots are easy to find in the SF Bay Area as well. You will find one in any suggested places from the previous posts.

I don't mean to seem picky, but Peet's does not carry the 3-cup, Sweet Maria's sells a different model and design from Bialetti, and Sur La Table lists the 3-cup as out of stock.

You can order one from their website:

eBay has 3 of the 3-cup espresso makers

Try the Cost Plus at Jack London Square, they have a good selection of Bialetti and other brands as well.
