The House, La Boulange, and Gold Mountain, SF report (w/ pics)

hhc Aug 20, 2006 07:16 AM

After a early wedding Sat. at St. Peter and Paul we decided to try the House after reading Melanie's previous report: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/show/307837
B. and I really enjoyed it. It wasn't busy at all when we went and service was fine.

Free cucumber snack given on our visit.

Dishes we tried: steamed mussels w/ garlic infused shrimp broth $8-delicious. Wish they had bread to scoop up all the sauce.

Angus flatiron steak w/ roasted shitake mushroom sauce $14-good.

A seared ahi tuna special $17 that came with some cavier, mashed potatoes, bok choy. Good.

Didn't try dessert but the Scharffenberger chocolate cake has been recommended $8.50-might try another time.

Before tip was $40.

The House (Asian-fusion), 1230 Grant Ave, San Francisco, 94133 - (415) 986-8612
Open for lunch every day except Sun, Dinner daily.
-------------------------------------------------

Walked to La Boulange for some macarons de Paris $1.50 each, 4 small cookies $6. I tried caramel, chocolate, pistachio, and hazelnut and liked them all.

La Boulange, 543 Columbus Ave, SF 415-399-0714. they take credit card and have one unisex bathroom. Recommended to try for next time: almond croissant, skip plain, and canneles (I didn't see any this time here.
)---------------------------------------

Gold Mountain for wedding reception. My favorites: roasted chicken dish, and steam fish dish. Don't know how much the 8 course meal cost but decent overall.
