Lunch between NYC and Saratoga Springs??

We're driving to Saratoga next weekend from NYC and would love suggestions for a great place to stop for lunch along the way. Not looking for fancy necessarily - just local, hole in the wall and swell. Crab shack, regional specialty/favorite kind of place. Thanks for your input.

    1. Are you taking the Thruway? Consider stopping off at exit 18, New Paltz. Many good places to eat... Search the posts on this board for specific recommendations.

      1. I love New World Home Cooking in Saugerties, which is right off 87. Great, fun, tasty new American cuisine, at a reasonable price. Chef Ric Orlando is a low-key regional celebrity.

Sadly, New World in not open for lunch

        2. Oh, good one! I didn't even think of New World. I love that place--I'd go there more often if it weren't out in the middle of nowhere ;)

          1. Thanks for all the great ideas. New World looks terrific but unfortunately it appears that they no longer serve lunch - only dinner.
