"Kathmandu Spice" in E. Arlington?

  • 6

Driving by on Mass Ave, I saw an "Opening Soon" sign this morning. Anybody know anything? Not many Nepalese restaurants around so this could be interesting-- or is it going to be a spice shop?

  1. I'm pretty sure that it's going to be a restaurant. I read on the Arlington town website that they were approved for a beer and wine license.

    1. I spoke to the owner last week and he's hoping to be open in the about two weeks. Did a nice renovation of the place. I hope it works out.

        1. I ate there on opening night, Monday October 16.

The service was polite, but very slow and apologetic -- however I don't fault them for that, as it was their very first day.

The food, on the other hand, was great. I was a bit underwhelmed by the Golden Gobi appetizer, but everything else we tried was quite good.

Give them until next week to get the wrinkles worked out of the waitstaff, and this place will definitely be worth a visit.

Glad to see someone has gone!

What else did you try there? Any Nepali dishes? The theme of most Nepali restaurants, mainly due to popular unfamiliarity with the cuisine, is to serve a typical North Indian menu with a few Nepali dishes on the side.

I plan to hit up this place soon, as soon as I have a free weekend. (Organic chemistry is killing me alive!)

Is the website working for anybody? All I'm getting is a flashy flash intro with no content. I'd love to check out a menu.

            :)

Nevermind, I just noticed a post below. It doesn't seem like they serve anything distinctly Nepali on the buffet, sadly.
