Best Onion Rings- NH/ME ?

keysdax Aug 19, 2006 04:22 AM

Searching for rings that are more oniony with a loose batter. I have heard that Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery is pretty good. Any other places to try?

Thanks much!

i really like the ones at the Sea Basket. I wouldnt call them a loose batter though. They are very thin with a solid non greasy thin batter.

I agree about the rings at the Sea Basket. Very good.

Estes in South Harpswell ME are very good. A few weeks ago we had nice puffy battered rings at the Red Hill Dari in Center Harbor, NH. We are overdue for a visit to the Ice House in Newcastle NH. Can't remember what their onion rings are like.

Cindy's in Yarmouth has exactly what you're looking for. Thin, almost intermittent batter, onions are nearly caramelized. Excellent deal there for lobster rolls too.

Thanks for tips! The Ice House is closest to me, so I will try them first. I can't wait to try the other places!

Fat Boy's in Brunswick on Bath Road should be on your itinerary too!
