Good butcher on the upper west side

hoguech Aug 17, 2006 11:14 PM

I just moved to the upper west side (from midtown east) and am in search of a good butcher. I've been to Fairway & Citarella (both good - I liked Fairway better) but I was hoping to find a butcher not attached to a grocery. I used to use L Simchick at 52nd & 1st. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

I always liked Oppenheimers on 98th and B'way when I lived UWS... They have seafood there as well... All kinds of terrific cuts of meat, cold cuts, chicken, etc. They will cut up whatever you want to your liking... Very good service...

If you do a search, you could probably find one of my more detailed posts...

Try their chicken basil sausage... healthy and delicious, eithe rin a pasta or on the grill...

I second Oppenheimers. Been going there for about 20 years and never had a bad experience.
