Saratoga splurge

Has anyone been to any of the upper scale places down there lately, Plumed Horse for one. I'd hate to go down there, spend a lot of money on our anniversary, and be let down.

I got invited to a birthday dinner at Sent Sovi last week. I was a bit hesitant since I hadn't heard much about this place since Kinch left a few years back. We had the tasting menu ($65) plus foie gras ($8 or $10 supplement). I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't the best tasting menu that I've had, but definitely above average. Some of the stand out items were the honeydew/mint gaspacho with prawns, prickly pear cactus sorbet (palatte cleanser), and the lamb chops. The foie gras dish had great flavor, but I was a bit disappointed with the quality of the foie gras itself. It was a lesser grade than what you would get at Danko, for example.

Overall all, it was a good meal. If someone suggested it again, I'd accept the invitation.

Sent Sovi is a good choice if you're restrained to only Saratoga.

What about Manresa, if you can go beyond Saratoga?
