kid friendly places near Wells Beach ME

looking for non touristy places to eat around Wells. Lobster, lobster rolls, burgers. Good mommy/daddy drinks too :)

  1. Billy's Chowder House on Miles ROad in Wells is a good choice. Great lobster rolls, good fish and chips etc. Very Very kid friendly. Casual. Has drinks. HAve fun.

    1. My choice would be Fisherman's Catch on Harbor Road. It's rustic-casual with indoor seating at picnic tables and rolls of paper towels hanging above each for dealing with messy lobster-eating. Fish and seafood couldn't be fresher and there is a good selection of specials each day. Serves wine and beer. Very kid-friendly, too.
Another possibility is The Maine Dinner, although I think it's over-rated, it's very popular and there is often a wait, which you can use to browse the over-priced tourist-trap gift shop next door.

      1. Billies is a favorite for dinner and the Maine Diner is good for breakfast lunch. If you are traveling down to Oqonquit area don't miss Flo's on the left hand side going south Rt 1. Serves only hotdogs, bag of chips and soda. Very busy, always a aline, open only til 2:00 I believe. Voted best hotdogs on all of route 1 (fla to Maine).
First timers order 2 with the works and dont look back. Yes, the sauce is a bit brownish...but oh so good!

        1. There is now a Flo's in Well's where Mike's Clam Shack used to be. Also one at the Kittery Trading Post. No reason to go there unless you are going to order the hot dogs with Flo's special sauce. If you want mustard or ketchup dont bother to wait in line. Also - the on in WElls never has a line and the one in Kittery has a shorter line. Hours for the original is York (not Ogunquit- is none there) are 11-3. I belive the others have longer hours.

          1. There is a place on Rt 1 , im not sure if its in wells or Ogunquit or not. Its called the hay loft I believe. Its very casual and should be good for kids. I havent been there in a few years, but maybe some one will see this posting and have a little more updated knowledge about it. You can go to the Ogunquit chamber of commerce web site and get a really large list of places to eat in Ogunquit. Good luck.
