Pho 2000
Mmmmmm. Ordered lightly (no beef 7 ways for this visit, too bad) with some bun, but also ordered the beef salad with green apple. What a simple, light, flavorful dish for a hot day. Sliced beef, tomatoes, cucumbers, green apple slices, iceberg, ground peanuts and some fried onion/perhaps fishy kind of topping thrown in. Wish this were around the corner I'd eat this once or twice a week!

Pho 2000, in case anybody wants to know, is no longer in Boston. It's moved to Worcester past Clark U on Main Street going toward Leicester. They bought the Bamboo Hut, which is the best Vietnamese restaurant we've ever gone to. We do miss the Hut, but expect to try Pho 2000 as soon as it opens. By the way, it's a newly renovated place in the bottom floor of a 3-decker.

re: galleygirl
Pho 2000 is definitely coming to Worcester at 1394 Main St. As far as their relation to one in Boston, I don't know anything about it. The owner of this new location is Joseph Nguyen. They have been working on this for a while, a permanent sign is up now, and probably will be opening soon.

re: Chowzmeister
That's fine, we don't begrudge Worchester a Pho 2000.
Novahosting previously posted, "Pho 2000, in case anybody wants to know, is no longer in Boston. It's moved to Worcester past Clark U on Main Street going toward Leicester. ....", which doesn't seem to be correct, so that scared me!

We just had a disappointing Pho 2000 experience. Sure, the broth is as rich as any you'll ever taste, with a veritable oil slick of grease floating on the surface. Not as much anise flavor for my liking, but the rare beef was quality, and the bowl was a satisfying pho nonetheless, so I thought, "Well, I'll go to Pho Hoa next time, but this was fine." Until about 5 minutes later, that is, when my sinuses started swelling like nobody's business, like somebody was pumping them up with a bicycle pump. That pho had to have been PACKED with MSG to trigger a reaction like that. If you are at all sensitive to MSG, stay away from Pho 2000. Pho Hoa is practically right across the street and way better.
