I hard cook, chill well and peel and place in a tightly covered container. They have lasted almost 2 weeks that way.

I leave 'em in the shell (don't know why, just do) and they taste/smell fine after a week and a half in the fridge. Never kept 'em longer, they're too easy to eat while commuting or to turn into egg salad.

eggs last bout a month after they're laid. to keep them, pickle them (yum!.) To boil them, put them in a pot of cold water. over high heat, bring them up to a boil. as soon as the water is rolling, cover them and remove from the fire. set a timer for 7 minutes, and when it goes off, run cold water over them for at least half an hour. peeling under water helps a lot, too.

Running cold water for a half of an hour sounds extremely wasteful. I fill a bowl of cold water, throw in some ice cubes, peel quickly under that water and immediately put them in the refrigerator. Works well.
