BBQ NYC

I haven't seen much on the board about BBQ NYC, which I thought might be because they changed the original date. I've gone every year except last, which I only missed because I had the day wrong. I can't imagine a better way to spend a late summer weekend afternoon in NYC than on Ward's Island, enjoying the best barbecue I've ever had in the shadow of the insane asylum.
I've never brought potluck to this event before, but I'm thinking of participating this year. Is anyone bringing anything this year, and if so, what?

I just got the latest email update. Seems like they want lots of dips.

I look forward to going and seeing you and other Chowhounds. As for bringing something -- I've specifically been requested not to bring anything I had any hand in preparing.

I am going and this will be my first. The reports in previous years have been tremendous, but I had been unable to attend for various reasons - I am really looking forward to it!

I'm looking forward to it this year, I didn't think I would be able to make it but last minute change in plans make it a go. I actually plan to socialize a bit this year instead of working my tail off. I sliced meat for awhile last year after taking a break from the intense heat of finishing the chicken on the grill... man that is work trying to slice that much brisket at high speed. I don't know which was more intense, the high speed slicing or the singed arms from grilling. I didn't even have time to get anything to eat last year except tidbits while I was slicing. This year I will be back in my role as the "philosophizing beer dispenser" as the Cuemaster calls it.

I guess there isn't a salsa competition this year? (The sauce not the dance) See ya'll there.

I'll be there, most likely slicing brisket for Rob. Thinking about bringing something else, though, too....It should be a great party this year-- a celebration of Texas 'que.
